THE WINTER DESERT
THE REAL WINTER EXPEDITION
Have you ever thought about reaching the northernmost human settlement in the world?
We will take you out of your comfort zone, beyond your limits to give you the experience of a lifetime.
4 intense days in Longyearbyen to discover the Arctic desert.
BEYOND YOUR LIMITS!
Svalbard are a unique place, inhospitable to man during the long days in the summer and even more severe during the winter time. But here you will inevitably leave your heart:
Come with us on an intensive and unique experience in Longyerbyen.
Beyond the 76th parallel north in the Arctic Circle, there is a magical place, populated by incredible and unique animals, where the light gives pastel shades from turquoise to pink and where the absence of night will give fairytale scenarios.
During our expedition in the Arctic we will bring you on two snowmobile tours and a cruise to the most famous ghost town in the Arctic: Pyramyden and if luck will assist us we could also see the King of the Arctic: the polar bear.
Our snowmobile tour will also give you close encounters with both Arctic wildlife and historical town like Barentsburg.
An exclusive guide is provided for this single departure.
🧭 Why Explore Svalbard by Snowmobile?
Because it’s the only way to reach the true wilderness. Snowmobiles allow you to travel deep into Svalbard’s interior — to places where no road goes, and where the only signs of life might be a fox’s tracks or a distant polar bear. It’s fast, exciting, and surprisingly meditative: just you, your machine, the cold air, and endless Arctic landscapes.
🚀 What to Expect on Tour
Expert Guidance: FRAMTours provides experienced Arctic guides fluent in safety, navigation, and storytelling. Every tour begins with a full safety briefing and gear fitting, and your guide will lead you through varied terrain with full satellite contact and survival equipment on hand.
Incredible Landscapes: Travel through frozen valleys, past glittering glaciers, across frosted plateaus, and into the heart of Svalbard’s National Parks. Stops are made at scenic points and historical sites, like abandoned Soviet mining settlements or traditional trapping cabins.
Wildlife Encounters: Keep your eyes open — snowmobile tours offer chances (from a respectful distance) to see Arctic foxes, reindeer, ptarmigan, and sometimes even polar bears. Safety and wildlife ethics are always a priority.
Total Immersion: Whether you’re crossing frozen fjords or sharing coffee by a remote hut, this is real Arctic adventure — far from the noise, close to the wild.
SAFETY CONSIDERATION:
This tour includes two full days on a snowmobile where we will travel approximately 170km each day. Good physical shape and good health conditions are therefore required.
We will encounter ice and snow. Temperatures may vary by several degrees between -10 °C and -35°C. You are therefore advised to dress accordingly with the expected temperatures.
